Usually a cell configures multiple BWPs out of the total channel bandwidth and select a specific one at each moment of operation. I think the purpose and concept of BWP is very similar to NarrowBand in LTE M1. BWP is a part of the total channel bandwidth configured for a cell that is used for a UE at a specific moment of operation.
